The Lions head loop is another quick post work trail run. It’s a +-6km loop around the base of Lions head. The views on this run are pretty dam amazing because you are getting a similar 360-degree view as you do on the top of Lions head but from a very different perspective.
You park in the same place you would if you were heading to the top (it’s marked on the marked on the map below) but then instead of going left up the big jeep track you go right into the bushes up the small trail next to the little wooded shed. In most parts the trail is pretty smooth and not that technical there are a couple of sections that get a little rocky but nothing to hectic.
The path run parallel to the road for the first section and you will hit two forks the first you should take a right and the second is more of a big intersection and you should go straight down as if you wanted to go to the sea. This is were the trail is a little rocky and not that well defined but keep heading down until hit a big path then go left. This trail will take you right the way around the mountain you will hit a few more forks but just head left and up from now on.
Eventually you’ll end up on the Kloof road. Follow this up like you would to head back to your car but once you make the turn up onto the lions head road look out for a little trail that peels off to the left and runs parallel to the road again. You will then pop out back at the start.
