Devils Peak has the best view in the whole of Cape Town. The End.
But seriously the view from the top of Devils Peak is unbelievable; it’s just 360 degrees of amazingness with the added bonus of a unique birds eye view. The hike itself is relatively hard, it’s not the distance but the fact that it just goes straight up. I would recommend taking a good amount of water, a windbreaker (because even if it’s not windy down it town, it’s probably howling up there) and a decent camera. Remember though, this is a really exposed piece of mountain, if the clouds comes in you’ll get really cold, fast. So make sure you are properly prepared.
The hike itself is relatively straight forward as and it is pretty well sign posted. There are a few different ways to get up and down, the way indicated in the map below is the simplest and most common. Feel free to explore the others if you’re up for it.
I’ve said at the top the hike will take you about 4 hours to get up and down. As always that’s an estimate, if you go quickly it could take you 2 hours and if you are just taking it super chilled it could take you 6 hours.
